Smallest Pistols 2022 - Smith & Wesson went back to the drawing board when designing its latest compact stealth pistol, and the result is a unique offering in the form of the Smith & Wesson CSX, a steel-framed, hammer-action, 9mm Luger chambered. . This new pistol features a full aluminum frame with an adjustable rear strap and includes a 10-round rigid magazine as well as a 12-round extended magazine.

"Since the launch of the MP&P Shield pistol, Smith & Wesson has invested heavily in the concealed carry firearm market," said John Myles, senior product manager. "Over the past year, we've modernized and updated the old platform by increasing the capacity and updating the shooting geometry with the launch of the Shield Plus. With the CSX design, we started with a new canvas; giving the consumer a completely different option for concealed carry."

Springfield Armory XD-M Elite 4.5” OSP in 10mm Auto, NRA Gun of the Week, American Rifleman Gun of the Week The world of firearms has changed a lot in the last 20 years and it's always interesting to see where from where we started until now. We have come in the last two decades. There have been a few good handguns like the HK USP and the Glock 19 while there have been a few small handguns chambered in 9mm, small 9mm pistols didn't really take off until the 2000s. I bought it. and took almost every gun on this list. Let's take an in-depth look at the evolution of firearms and see where it all began, how it has progressed to the present day, and what the firearms market is becoming.

Springfield Armory Launches The Ronin Emp In 9mm, The “most Compact 1911” In The World

One of my favorite times to look at small guns was the early 2000's and what was available. Things like the HK USP Compact, Glock 19 and SIG Sauer P229, 225 or P239 were excellent. Some companies have come out with smaller options, but in general, if you want a smaller carry gun, these are the options.

One of the first handguns I carried was the Glock 26, affectionately known as the "Baby Glock." This amazing nine was released in 1994 and confused the fudds with 10 rounds. A feature of this gun was the ability to carry the largest 15-round magazines in the Glock 19 or the full-size 17- or 33-round magazines in the Glock 17. When Glock released the 26, it was unlike anything else on the market. . A lot of power. It was certainly thicker, but it held more ammunition than a traditional reload or a large single-handed pack. One of the first guns I ever shot and decided to pick up was a black Glock 26. I have fond memories of the Glock 26 and it should have a place on this list.

Kahr Arms' original K series was dropped in 1995, but its lightweight PM series dropped in 2004. The PM9 was an excellent offering of a lightweight 6+1 rifle. This was one of the first small rifles purpose built with a light in mind. The overall gun only weighed 14 ounces unloaded, which is impressive for a lightweight option. Equipped with an attack system and night sights, these small pocket pistols packed a lot of stuff in the mid-2000s, and if you have more than $700, you can get a nice little modern pistol. The main flaw of this small pickup unit was the double trigger. The Kahr still uses a double trigger, but it's not as easy to shoot as fast as the stress.

These small pocket pistols had a heavy duty two-stage trigger with a long reset and repeated grip. I can't tell you how many cycles it took for me to really enjoy this stimulation. Most of the time, people who have this small gun, but do not practice it, often shoot it incorrectly because they are not used to pulling the long trigger. There was also a little bit of shooting where you had to fire the gun so that nothing would go wrong. I probably had a dozen crashes in the first 300 laps and after that, it was smooth sailing. In terms of weight and capability, it's still competitive in today's market, but I think the double trigger is what swayed me from looking for a new option.

New Red Dot Handguns For 2022

Fast forward to 2012 and there are a number of small pistols on the market. Whether it was the SIG P290, Kahr PM9, or Glock 26, a lot of people really wanted to switch to a smaller 9mm scope. Smith & Wesson took the market by storm in 2012 with the debut of the original Shield. This gun was reasonably priced and offered 7+1 adjustment capacity with the option of having an extended magazine that could hold an 8+1 load.

I have bought and purchased quite a few in my time and they have done a really good job with their slimness and overall strength. It's easy to carry in the PDI holster and it's provided beautiful power to be a winner for several years. Over the years, there have been a number of Smith & Wesson sales and promotions that have made these more affordable. There have been several times in the past that I have seen original shields for less than $200, which was an unbelievable value for money. They then came out with a range of advanced shields with new covers and optics before moving on to the second generation. These are great options, but if I had to analyze them, I would say they are limited in the number of rounds you get from them. It's still a great choice regardless and people love it.

Around 2015, companies started pouring more money into the gun market and some of the big names came out with smaller options. Glock released the Glock 42 in 2014 chambered in .380 Auto and several companies started pouring money into offering something a little more powerful. The competition was starting to heat up, and there was something real new about this time.

When the Glock 43 dropped in 2015, it took the thunder away from the shield and really made it the best choice for light concealed carry pistols. I remember people debating which Glock was better, the 26 had more power and the 43 was easier to conceal, with a 6+1. It wasn't a breakthrough, but it had that Glock reliability and performed well for a long time. The aftermarket community quickly picked up on the gun and introduced marketing optics and magazine extensions to get the 8 or 9 round that people wanted, so it was a commercial success for many years. But after a few years Glock will come with many things that will really challenge the market.
